Adventure Sessions

For the families, couples, (solo)travellers that want to capture their memories in magical Lapland.

What is an Adventure Session

Most people instantly cringe when they hear ‘photoshoot’. It sounds like it might come with awkward prom-style posing and someone whispering ‘say cheese!’ into your ear. That’s why I prefer the term ‘adventure session’.
Sure, it technically is a photoshoot. I like to think of it as an epic adventure or a magical date night. (Except there’s me and my camera tagging along.)
You're already doing your best to bottle up the magic. Those everyday phone pics? Total treasures.
Now imagine portraits where everyone is in the frame, including you. Images that feel like your family sounds: laughter, love, and a bit of delightful chaos.
Below you can find carefully curated base packages for a session in the nature surrounding Rovaniemi.
Customised sessions (different area in Lapland/Finland, longer shooting time,...) are definitely possible. Please reach out, together we will plan something!

FAQ
Do you travel for photoshoots?
Yes, I am available in whole Lapland and beyond. Travel expenses and time will be an additional fee. For Lapland area 0,50c/km outside of Rovaniemi city area will be charged.
What if the weather is bad on the day of an outdoor session?
Is there such a thing as bad weather? We can make it a fun experience with great pictures no matter the weather. Ofcourse, when you have your eyes set on certain circumstances we can try to reschedule depending on what we have agreed beforehand. Please note that during Christmas season I am usually fully booked so we might not be able to reschedule.
Can we book one of the base packages when we stay somewhere else in Lapland?
Absolutely! We can adjust the base packages to a different location in Lapland (or that super cool igloo you stay in). There will be an additional fee for travel distance and time.
What kind of clothing do you recommend?
Neutral, earthy, or soft-toned colors tend to photograph beautifully against Lapland's snowy/ autumn and summer landscapes. Avoid clothing with large logos, busy patterns, or highly reflective materials, as these can be distracting in photographs.
Accessories such as scarves, hats, and mittens can add both warmth and visual interest while complementing your overall look.
In winter, staying warm is essential in Arctic conditions, it’s recommended to dress in layers, with thermal base layers and warm outerwear suitable for the weather.
Warm, waterproof boots are highly recommended. Snow, ice, and slush can be common, so comfortable footwear with good grip or removable spikes is strongly advised to help you stay warm, safe, and enjoy the experience.
Will there be snow and also on the trees?
Here is what you can generally expect throughout the winter season:
November & December: Usually the ground is covered in white (November varies every winter. Sometimes we have a thin layer and some years no snow the first weeks), but the heavy snow hasn't fully built up on the tree branches yet. The trees can look frosted and beautiful, but they won't have that thick, heavy blanket of snow just yet - unless it snowed heavily and there was no wind or rain.
January & February (Peak Snow): This is the prime time for snow-heavy trees! The deep winter cold locks the snow onto the branches, turning the forests into a dramatic, sculpted winter wonderland.
March & April: The ground still has plenty of deep, clean snow for photos, but as the days get longer and the sun gets stronger, the snow begins to melt off the tree branches first.
"Jana was really friendly and accommodating. I contacted her shortly before our trip to let her know I was planning to propose and she captured the moment perfectly. Not only that, but all of the photos were outstanding and provided to us really quickly. Me and my now fiancé had never done a photoshoot before and Jana guided us where necessary to get perfect photos. Would highly recommend Jana to anyone who wants this type of experience."
